Doctoral Programme in Education
The doctoral program in Educational Sciences offers a broad yet specialized training platform that brings together diverse approaches in terms of content, theory, epistemology, and methodology. It builds on current international research discourses and creates an inspiring environment in which innovative research questions can be developed and critically examined.
Within the Doctoral School in Education, students have the opportunity to pursue a doctorate in both educational sciences and a wide range of subject-specific didactics. The spectrum ranges from biology, chemistry, and mathematics to German philology, English and American studies, and Romance studies, as well as geography—in both its social and natural science aspects—physics, nutritional sciences, and linguistics. This thematic diversity fosters a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment and promotes fruitful exchange across disciplinary boundaries. A unique range of workshops accompanies the research process and strengthens both methodological skills and intellectual independence.
In addition, members of the Doctoral School in Education benefit from targeted funding opportunities, particularly to support research and conference travel. This not only strengthens international networking but also provides long-term support for the development of individual academic profiles.
